4 die in accident near Shimoga

Four persons died and nine were injured in a road mishap near the Malnad Hospital and Institute of Oncology on the city outskirts on Monday. 

The deceased are Arun, 30, driver of the vehicle and a resident of Bhadravati, Samiullah, 35, a resident of Madaripalya, Shimoga, Gurumurthy, 50, a resident of Machenahalli and Harish, 50.

The incident took place at around 9 am when the speeding MUV (Tempo Trax), heading towards Shimoga from Bhadravati, rammed a KSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction, while trying to avert a collision with an autorickshaw. 

Around 15 persons were travelling in the Trax. The bus was on its way to Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district from Shimoga. The injured are Leelabai, Lavanya, Sajjan Sabud, Ravikumar, Shekhar, Manu Kumar, Seetabai, Anjankumar and Velayudhan.

 Some of them are undergoing treatment at McGann Hospital and the others at Sahyadri Narayana Hrudayalaya. Vehicular movement between Shimoga and Bhadravati was disrupted for an hour following the accident.
