Bharat will be BJP-mukt: Chidamabaram

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Saturday trashed the BJP’s ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ campaign, calling it “a task that is simply not going to happen.”

He was in the city to launch ‘Project Shakti,’ an ambitious enrolment drive that Congress has launched ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. “Don’t let the BJP fool us. Don’t be in awe of the BJP’s propaganda that they will build a Congress-mukt Bharat. If at all there will be a mukt Bharat, it will be a BJP-mukt Bharat,” Chidambaram told party workers.

The key to the Congress’ electoral success will be micro management, he said, urging party workers to strengthen booth-level activities.

Under Project Shakti, party workers can get themselves enrolled by sending their voter ID number to a dedicated number, following which they will receive updates from the party’s leadership and also get to interact with them. The party aims to enroll lakhs of people by August 15, he said.
