Cong protests continue over HDK cabinet berth denial

Last Updated 07 June 2018, 11:05 IST

Supporters of a few Congress party leaders have continued to protest seeking ministerial berths to their leaders in the cabinet.

Supporters of Satish Jarkiholi created ruckus at the district KPCC office on Club Road in Belagavi on Thursday afternoon.

Members of Manava Bandhutav Vedike, founded by the MLA, staged a protest at Chennamma Circle and went to the KPCC office.

They damaged flower pots, portraits and banners in front of the office.

They wanted to barge inside, but failed in their attempt as the office was locked.

Satish Jarkiholi, the AICC secretary, represents Yamkanmardi constituency. He had held Small Scale Industries and Excise portfolios in the Siddaramaiah cabinet.

Reddy Sangha members staged a protest in front of deputy commissioner's office urging the Congress party high command to induct the Reddy community leaders Ramalinga Reddy and H K Patil in the cabinet.
It is not correct to ignore senior and experienced leaders like Patil and Reddy. The two leaders performed well in the Siddaramaiah government. They implemented many pro public projects and never compromised with issues of land, water and language. The Congress party should respect them, they said. They warned of teaching a lesson in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections if the two leaders are not given due importance. They submitted a memorandum to the DC.

In Hubballi, supporters of Kundgol MLA C S Shivalli stated a protest at Ambedkar Circle on Thursday afternoon against the Congress party's decision of denying a berth in the Kumaraswamy cabinet to their leader. They burnt tyres and blocked the road for sometime.
