The Rahul Gandhi-led Congress will take the Rafale issue to the voters of Karnataka as part of its Lok Sabha campaign, AICC general secretary in-charge of the party’s affairs in the state K C Venugopal said Tuesday.

Addressing a news conference after chairing a meeting of the party’s office bearers and district party presidents, Venugopal said a massive ‘people contact’ will be launched later this month.

“From January 26 to February 15, our people will approach every household and talk about the failures of the Modi government and the importance of bringing back Congress to power. Rafale will be a big issue and we will tell voters how Karnataka has been cheated,” Venugopal said.

When it was pointed out that Rahul’s repeated mention of Rafale did not help the Congress win the Assembly polls earlier this year, Venugopal said: “That was 7 months ago. A lot has happened about Rafale since then. Also, during the Assembly polls, we didn’t go with Rafale in a big way. This time, we will.”

Venugopal also said that the party had been given two weeks to reconstitute booth-level committees so as to strengthen organisation at the grassroots level. “Our main motto is to win as many seats in Karnataka as possible,” he said.
