200 acres to be purchased for SSIs in Mysore: Nayak

CM supports single window for encouraging small industries

Small scale industries (SSI) minister Narasimha Nayak (Raju Gowda) announced that 200 acres would be purchased on the outskirts of the city to encourage SSIs.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a seminar on managing costs to manage growth organised by Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) here on Monday.

He said discussions have been held with deputy commissioner about purchase of land.

While houses would be constructed near the industries, he said farmers would be given right price to part with their land. He said SSIs would help take the country’s growth forward.

Hyderabad-Karnataka, Chamarajanagar and Kollegal are backward regions, where there is not much encouragement to SSIs. He said 50 acres would be purchased in Chamarajanagar and Kollegal to support SSIs.

He said 90 days are required for completing formalities once an application is filed to start a SSI. In order to reduce the time to 30 days, he said chief minister has expressed his support for setting up a single window for SSIs.

Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries of India (ACCII) director Asad Wasi, MSME development institute director S M Jamakhandi, assistant director Rangarao, Jayanth, MCCI president Sudhakar S Shetty, vice-president A S Satish and others were present.
