2767 HIV affected in Kolar district

The programme will be held at Travellers Bungalow at 9 am under the title World wide treatment: Human Right Protection. An awareness rally will be taken out on the occasion. Legislator R Varthur Prakash will flag off the rally. Students from various colleges will participate in the programme, said District Health Officer Dr N Rameshba and District Aids Control Unit Officer Dr M Jagadish.

He was addressing the media person here on Monday. After the Jatha a programme will be organised at the KEB Community hall. Prizes will be distributed to the winners of various competitions held for the students by the departments. Cultural programme will also be held on the occasion.

Vice-president Naveeda Khanum, member J Krishnasingh, Balaji Chennaiah, City Municipal Council K N Madhusudan Kumar, Vice-president V K Rajesh, Deputy Commissioner N Prabhakar, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer G V Rangarao will participate in the programme, he said.

The programme is jointly organised by District administration , Zilla Panchayat, Jeevan Asha, Spad, Karnataka Health Promotion Trust, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Samagra Navajeevan, NCC, NSS, DEd education institutes, Grama Vikas Samste of Honna Shetihalli, he said.

2767 HIV infected

There are 2,767 HIV infected in the district from 2002 to this year. Among them 274 have been cured. As many as 17,457 people are tested from 2009 January to october. Among them 649 are identified to be affected with HIV. Among the 20,131 pregnents 53 are HIV affected. 47 have delivered. Steps have been taken to prevent parent to child transmission of infection, said District Aids Control Officer M Jagadeesh.

17 centres

There are nearly 17 ICTC centres to test blood, in the district. Tests will be conducted at all the 13 health centres in the district, round the clock. District hospital, ITCM, S5ri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Narasapura, Masti, Betamangala, Vemagul, Nangali and Bairakur primary health centres, at the taluk hospitals, Bemal of KGF and general hospital, Gownipalli Community Health Centre, he said.

2782 cases

As many as 2782 Aids affected cases  have been admitted at the district ART centres. 700 people are administered with ART treatment. Among them 275 affected have died.
Kolar district has registered 3.27 per cent aids affected. Among these 0.75 are pregnant, he said.
