Poll to elect 2,234 members of 203 GPs in Chikkamagaluru

Polling will be held to elect 2,234 members of 203 Gram Panchayats of the district on March 29. A total number of 6,17,851 voters will decide the future of the candidates. Election will be held to 400 seats of Chikkamagaluru taluk, 488 of Kadur, 402 of Tarikere, 247 of Mudigere, 171 of Koppa, 145 of NR Pura, 82 seats of Sringeri Gram Panchayat.

The polling process would commence from 7 am and finish at 5 pm on Friday.
The district administration has appointed 3,688 officials to the polling booths, 297 vehicles have been arranged to provide transport facility to the polling booth officials and other staff with ballot box.

To provide proper security at 901 polling booths including 33 of naxal-affected area, 1,900 police personnel have been deployed. Polling booth officers and staff collected ballot boxes from election officers at Government Pre-University College at Belur road and walked towards allotted polling booths with records on Thursday.


The counting will be held at respective taluk centers, the counting of the Chikkamagaluru taluk will be held at Government Pre-University College at Belur road on June 5. Other counting centres are Kadur PU College, Tarikere SJM College, Mudigere D S Biligowda First Grade College, Mini Vidhana Soudha New Building Koppa, N R Pura Taluk Panchayat
office and Sringeri JCM College.
