Shimoga man possessing gun held in Mysore

Syed Ashwak, 34, son of late Madhar Saab, Soraba in Shimoga is that man. He had hidden the weapon inside the jerkin he was wearing, when the cops covered him. He had covered the gun with a cloth. When enquired about any license to possess the weapon, he replied in negative and disclosed that he had come all the way from Shimoga to sell it.

The police team consisted of Inspector H M Mahadevappa and staff, said a press release.

Vehicle thief nabbed
In another case, Jayapura police have apprehended a vehicle thief and have recovered a car and gold valuables worth `  seven lakh from him.

Mahesh, 21, of Srinidhi Layout of Bangalore is the accused. Mahesh was moving in a suspicious manner in a car when he was stopped by the cops near Udbur gate on Manandavadi road. He mumbled to cops query. He was taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to have stolen the car of Kerala registration, from Kaveri Nagar in N R Police limits here and gold valuables from Shivarathreeshwara Nagar in the city and Srinidhi Layout in Bangalore. The valuables are estimated at ` two lakh, car at Rs five lakh. The police team consisted of Circle Police Inspector Gopalakrishna.

Theft at techie’s house
Miscreants have decamped with jewellery worth `  two lakh from a techie’s house in Metagalli police station’s limits.

Sunil Kanthanayak, a native of Odisha is a software engineer at SPI, in Hebbal here and resides on second cross, Manchegowdanakoppal. Recently, his wife went to her native for delivery. Sunil’s colleague Subramanya was visiting him frequently, and was often staying at the house.

 On Monday night Subramanya had stayed at Sunil’s place only to leave following day.
It is alleged that Subramanya may have entered the house using duplicate key when Sunil was away on work. The incident came to light when Sunil returned home on Tuesday evening. In all 110 grams of gold valuables are missing.
Metagalli police are investigating the case.
