JOIN USThe TMC officials evicted hundreds of illegal huts which had cropped up in 11.11 acre land, at A Rangapura in Tarikere on Saturday.
The officials pressed the service of JCB for clearing the huts. As per the direction of the district administration, the officials started eviction drive in the wee hours of Saturday.
As the labourers opposed the move, the officials started clearing the huts using the JCB.
Lakkamma, a widow and a labourer said “I have lost my husband, a year ago. I constructed this hut few months ago. Please dont clear my hut. Where should I go now?” she asked the officials.
Lakkamma was seen crying along with her two kids and was pleading with the officials and the police.
Another woman said “my daughter has just delivered. Where will I go taking her in this rainy season.” There were hundreds of labourers who have been living in the area for the last several years.
In the backdrop of the TMC deciding to construct, a stadium or sub jail, the authorities have decided to clear 11.11 acre land encroached by the labourers.
