Don't know differences among 'trio': Satish Jarkiholi

Last Updated 01 December 2018, 17:30 IST

Senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi has said that political heavyweights Medical Education and Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar, Minister for Municipal Administration Ramesh Jarkiholi and MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar are members of the ‘same family’.

Satish Jarkiholi, who represents Yamakanamaradi reserved constituency of the district in Legislative Assembly, told the media persons that the trio, since the last two decades, are together but downplayed the allegation that he had played any spoilsport in the wake of bickerings among them.

He said both Shivakumar and Ramesh were thick friends even before. Since there is a breach in this ‘family’, they should be asked about their differences, he stated. However, he expressed ignorance when asked about the reasons for the differences among the trio.

The former AICC secretary, whose relations with Laxmi Hebbalkar have strained, said he was single-handedly working for the Belagavi Primary Cooperative Agricultural and Rural Development Bank, but Ramesh Jarkiholi extended support. “I am an alien to this three-member group and I am unaware of their old business over which the media should throw light,” he quipped.

“Just by serving tender coconut to agitators to help end agitation will not make anyone a leader. This should not be construed as Shivakumar’s interference in the affairs of the district,” he said.

“Shivakumar, during a recent visit to the district, visited the venue where farmers were protesting seeking dues from sugar factories. But District In-charge Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi had not visited them. Even I have displayed such gestures when touring as a minister in other districts,” he said adding that this issue should not be politicised.

He claimed that the coalition government will complete its full term. There will be no change in the chief minister and H D Kumaraswamy would continue as the chief minister for all the five years. “I was also an aspirant for a ministerial berth. But I will seek it after two years and I am not bothered about the forthcoming Cabinet expansion,” he said.
