First H1N1 death in Raichur

Nagamma,(28), a resident of Udamgal Khanapur village in  Raichur taluk was admitted to OPEC hospital here on September 8.  She was treated for Bronchi Pneumonia. On September 9 her throat swab was sent to NIMHANS, Bangalore.  On Sept 12  morning she complained of chest pain and was on treatment but she died at 5.30 pm.  On Monday the report from NIMHANS confirmed that Nagamma’s sample tested positive for H1N1, informed District Health Officer Dr Y Venkatesh.

14 fresh cases in State

Meanwhile, fourteen fresh cases tested positive for the H1N1 Influenza on Monday, raising the total number of positive cases to 774 in the State. 

Out of the positive cases, 13 were reported in Bangalore and one in Belgaum.  There were no deaths reported on Monday, however the death toll stands at 65 in the State with 47 in Bangalore alone. The private practioners will be sensitized about H1N1 Influenza by the health department as many who have succumbed to flu had visited a private doctor and the concerned doctor had made wrong diagnosis which results in death due to late admissions at various hospitals.
