JOIN USShilpa (25), who was serving as a volunteer for Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), had filed nominations from Kappanahalli in Shikaripur for the GP elections. It is said that Shilpa had collected Rs 50,000 from self help groups affiliated to SKDRDP but had failed to deposit the amount with the organisation. The officers of SKD- RDP had demanded that Shilpa deposit the amount at the earliest.
In the complaint, Shilpa’s husband Basavaraj has alleged the harassment from SKDRDP officials for repayment of the amount as the reason for her suicide. Police said that Shilpa had used the amount for personal reasons. Shilpa had given a written guarantee to SKDRDP to repay the amount. Unable to bear the insult, she resorted to the extreme step, police added.
