Grand Dasara planned this year: HDK

The state government will celebrate this year’s Dasara on a grand scale as the state has received copious rains, said Chief Minister
H D Kumaraswamy.

Speaking to reporters after visiting Chamundi Hill on the occasion of first Ashadha Friday, he said he had already discussed about the celebrations with the officials concerned. He said that most of the dams had filled to the brim after a long gap and that Karnataka had already released Tamil Nadu’s share of Cauvery water.

The chief minister offered bagina at Kabini dam in
H D Kote taluk and KRS dam in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district. With Wayanad in Kerala receiving copious rains, the Kabini dam across River Kapila, at Beechanahalli, has reached the maximum level of 2,284 feet.

The chief minister reached Kabini three hours beyond the scheduled time.Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar and others were present with him.

D K Shivakumar lost his cool and slapped a man, who tried to get very close to him, by putting his hand over his shoulder to take a selfie, at Kabini dam. Police immediately took the man away. Shivakumar, refused to speak about the incident and left the place in his car.

Speaking to reporters after offering bagina at KRS, the chief minister said that farmers’ loans would be waived in a phased manner.
