Last Updated 22 February 2021, 17:00 IST

In an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the Mandya district administration has decided to monitor the students, migrants and tourists from Kerala in Mandya district.

Hundreds of students have arrived at various colleges in the district to pursue nursing, pharmacy, medical, para-medical, engineering and law courses. The nursing colleges in the city are dependent on the students from Kerala. The students have been staying at the respective college hostels.

Health Minister K Sudhakar held a meeting with the authorities concerned through video-conference and directed the officials to keep a vigil on the students and visitors from other states. As there is an anxiety at several places in the state, that hints at the second wave, he told the officials to ensure that the Covid guidelines are strictly followed.

The officials too have made all arrangements to tackle the new mutated coronavirus spread.

District Health Officer Dr H P Manchegowda said, “The students, especially those returned from Kerala will be closely observed and the employees have been directed in this regard. The students would be subjected to Covid tests.”
