He was speaking at a function organised by Brahmavidya and Ursu Community, in connection with 91st birth anniversary of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. Moily said that Karnataka has made significant contribution to the field of music and it had all the qualities to house a music varsity. This issue would be discussed with the ministry concerned immediately to take a suitable action.
Paying rich tributes to Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, Moily said the last ruler of Yadu Vamsha was one of the stalwarts in music field. He composed as many as 97 kirtis and they are considered rich in Carnatic music. They are known for ‘laya’ and ‘raga lakshana’.
Unfortunately, they did not get the deserved publicity. The king, apart from involving himself in music field was also a great administrator.
Moily said Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar—the architect of ‘modern Mysore’ upheld the concept of social justice and worked for the upliftment of backward classes during his reign. Moily was honoured with the award ‘Rajayogindra’.
Kamakshidevi and Indranidevi, members of Mysore royal family, MLAs S A Ramadas, S Sampangi, N H Shivashankarreddy, Mayor Purushottam, Department of Kannada and Culture Secretary B R Jayaramaraja Urs, Dr V S Shukla, Raja S Rajagopalacharya, Music University Special Officer Dore Hanumanna Nayak, Dr R Satyanarayan, former mayor, Vasu, Nagendra Shastri and Dr Krishnamurthy were present.
