Rs 3.34 lakh collected for flood victims

The padayatra, led by legislator Dr M C Sudhakar commenced from the Inspection Bungalow and waded through major roads and residential localities of the town. The workers requested the public to donate liberally for the welfare of lakhs of people affected by flood in North Karntaka. They said that this part of the state has witnessed the hithretoo unseen rain havoc, which has caused largescale damage to property and lives. Lakhs of people have been rendered homeless due to the floods. Crops to the tune of crores of rupees have been washed away and people have become refugees in their native itself, they said, pleading people to come to resue of their fellow countrymen in distress.

Lorry Owners Association contributed Rs 68,360 while Liquor Vendors Association donated Rs 34,000 followed by Town Official Recreation Club with a contribution of Rs 25,000. A total sum of Rs 3.34 lakh was collected during the drive.    

TP president Manjunath, CMC president Venkataravanaswamy, Youth Congress District president Addagal Sridhar, Taluk Youth Congress president R Manjunath, CMC standing committee president Shivaiah took part.
