JOIN USCongress has a field day with Eshwarappa's complaint against B S Yediyurappa
The Opposition Congress demanded Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa's resignation Wednesday after Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister KS Eshwarappa approached Raj Bhavan with a formal complaint against him.
In a 5-page complaint submitted to Governor Vajubhai R Vala, Eshwarappa accused Yediyurappa of “serious lapses" and being authoritarian.
"A senior BJP minister has made very serious accusations against CM Yediyurappa in a letter to the Governor. The CM must either immediately submit his resignation or must sack the minister if the accusations aren't true. Karnataka's BJP government has become a den of corruption," Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar said in a tweet.
AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the allegations of corruption against the Yediyurappa-led government were now verified by its own minister.
"It’s an illegitimate government born through stolen mandate. It is mired in corruption. It is run in an authoritarian fashion to serve one man only. It should be shown the door," Surjewala tweeted.
Former Congress minister Priyank Kharge said that the complaint showed that all was not well with the government. "MLAs dont have trust in ministers. Ministers don't have trust in the CM and the CM doesn't trust the high command," he said.
Eshwarappa, it can be recalled, has crossed swords with Yediyurappa several times in the past. In 2016, the BJP central leadership had to intervene to patch the rift between them. The animosity between the duo was buried temporarily by the high command ahead of the 2018 Assembly polls in Karnataka.
They were also on opposite sides of the table when DV Sadananda Gowda was made CM in 2011. Yediyurappa lobbied for his Gowda's ouster in favour of Jagadish Shettar, whereas the then state BJP president Eshwarappa had stood firmly behind Gowda.
