Karnataka polls: 36.9% turnout till 1 pm

Karnataka recorded a voter turnout of 36.9% until 1 pm on Saturday, the Election Commission stated.

So far, Dakshina Kannada has recorded the highest turnout at 47% while Bangalore Urban is the lowest at 28%.

Voting began at 7 am across the state as people waited in long queues to exercise their franchise. Initially, there were several reports of malfunctioning EVMs but the situation now seems to be under control.

Except for a mild baton charge in Mandya district and stone pelting on Congress candidate's convoy in Holenarsipura, voting has been peaceful across the state.

Polling will end at the 222 of the 224 constituencies - voting in two seats countermanded - across the state at 6 pm. The counting will be held on May 15.
