It will serve as a headquarters for all malayalees, who come to Bangalore. We have zeroed in on a land in K R Puram and the land acquisition process would be kickstarted soon,” said Reji Kumar, General Secretary. <br /><br />Apart from this, the association also plans to create a Kerala-Karnataka gramam (village), which would spread across 25 acres of land near Hoskote. <br /><br />Three months time<br /><br />Reji Kumar said that besides building a club and providing other recreational facilities, 300 houses will also be built in the area, which would later be sold to Keralites. <br /><br />The Kerala Samajam has set a target of three months to achieve this project. <br /><br />On delay in organising the event, the general secretary said, “We were supposed to conduct this programme a month ago but due to the devastation caused by floods in North Karnataka, we decided to postpone the event. The association donated Rs 1 lakh for flood relief and also supplied health kits consisting of - washing and bathing soap and tooth powder - worth Rs 5 lakh to flood-affected people in Bagalkot,” he added. <br /><br />The association is also planning to build 150 houses for flood-hit people along with various other Malayalee associations in the City, he added. <br /><br />Souvenir released<br /><br />The event was inaugurated by Kerala Minister for Devaswom Board Kadannapally Ramachandran, as Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj could not attend the event. <br /><br />Other VIPs who were present on the occasion included former Union Minister C M Ibrahim, Krishnarajpuram MP Nandish Reddy, Oscar winner Resul Pookutty, Miss India World 2008 runner up Parvathy Omanakuttan, Shantinagar MLA N A Harris. <br /><br />Souvenir of the association was released on the occasion by CM Ibrahim and the first copy was given to Resul Pookutty.</p>
