<p class="title">Bettatturu villager K S Puttaiah urged the district administration to impose a ban on the movement of timber lorries on Kolagadalu-Cherambane-Bettatturu-Madenadu road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Addressing the media in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said that heavy vehicles transporting timber ply on the road unabated as the road connects to the National Highway.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The continuous movement of heavy vehicles has damaged the road, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The trees in a coffee plantation which is seven kilometres away from Cherambane are felled and are transported on Cherambane-Madenadu Road. Even though a complaint has been submitted to the Zilla Panchayat and the district administration, there has been no response. The road has not been repaired from the past many years, added Puttaiah.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, Kaveri Sene President Ravi Changappa has warned of staging a protest on May 31 in Koladalu, urging a ban on heavy vehicles in the stretch and for the makeover of the road. He said that people from five villages will take part in the protest.</p>
