Nitte Deemed to be University Pro-Chancellor Dr M Shantaram Shetty called upon students to serve the society with creative and positive thinking.

He was speaking after inaugurating the sixth graduation ceremony of the Bearys Institute of Technology at Mangala Hall of Mangalore University.

“There are many illiterates in our society. Only 8% percent of students are getting higher education. Among them, only 1% of students are getting PhD. Students get many things from parents, teachers and society in obtaining education. Hence, they should return something in form of service to the society,” he said.

Dr Shetty said: "Many significant personalities in the world failed to achieve success initially. However, they took failure to be a challenge and scaled heights. Scientist Thomas Alva Edison and Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb the Mount Everest are the best examples."

Dr A Sridharan, former Deputy Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru called upon students to adapt to new technology and be prepared to learn from anyone they come across in their life.

He asked the youth to always respect and serve their parents and teachers and spend at least 5% of their income on the society.
Chairman of the Bearys Academy of Learning Syed Muhammad Beary presided over the function.

"Better human relationships among human being ensured peace and harmony in the world," he said.
MRPL Managing Director Venkatesh spoke about industry academia integration.
