Minister Ravi seeks IIT for Karnataka

Karnataka Higher Education Minister, C T Ravi on Wednesday met Union Human Resources Development Minister, Kapil Sibal, and requested him to sanction an Indian Institution of Technology to the State.

During his meeting, Ravi said that the State government would provide all infrastructure if the institution was sanctioned. 

Promise 

“Sibal promised me to consider the State’s demand positively”, the minister told mediapersons after the meeting. In the memorandum, Ravi said that as several big companies were housed in Karnataka, setting up an IIT-like institution would help to provide quality human resource to the industries. Ravi also met union ministers hailing from Karnataka - External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge and Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa and requested them to pressurise the Centre to sanction the institution.
