Modi won’t be PM again, says Siddaramaiah

Last Updated 20 February 2019, 13:07 IST

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday swore that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not return to power for a second term.

“Avara appana aane (swear on his father), Modi will not become the prime minister again,” Siddaramaiah told a Youth Congress convention here. “Whatever somersaults they try, the BJP will not return to power.” He called upon Youth Congress workers to ensure that the Constitution was protected.

“The Constitution and democracy are in danger ever since Modi became the Prime Minister. Like Germany’s Hitler, the BJP is fascist and they don’t believe in democracy,” Siddaramaiah said. Siddaramaiah had, before the May 2018 Assembly elections, swore on JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda that his son, H D Kumaraswamy, will not become the chief minister.

Siddaramaiah also launched a scathing attack on BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, calling him a “dhongi” (fake) farmers’ leader.
