The state police have made elaborate security arrangements on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti.

Around 54,000 civil policemen have been deployed across the state, with more personnel stationed in sensitive areas. Besides that, 107 platoons of KSRP personnel numbering 4,000 have been deployed. Three companies of RAF have been instructed to station themselves at strategic key locations, besides parading in sensitive areas like Kodagu, Bengaluru city and Chitradurga.

The district administrations have been instructed to take note of sensitive areas and Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been imposed Friday night onwards till the end of celebrations on Saturday. Sensitive areas for imposing Section 144 have been identified in Chitradurga, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Davangere and Kodagu.

Kamal Pant, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), law and order, told DH that strictly no procession of any kind or rally will be allowed anywhere in the state. “No processions or rallies, either by walk, bikes, cars or any other vehicles will be allowed,” said Pant.

All the districts will have a government-designated function. No elaborate decorations, banners or flexes will be allowed. All the decorations should be in accordance with the High Court guidelines on the use of banners and flex hoardings, he added.

The Bengaluru city police too have made elaborate security arrangements, predominantly in the central division. As a precautionary measure, around 3,000 policemen, including KSRP and CAR platoons have been deployed.

Tight security has been deployed around Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha, where the government function will be held. Thirty KSRP platoons and 20 CAR platoons have camped there.

The police have not given permission to celebrate at any public area or open grounds in the city.
