Raichur MP's son among five held for assault

Five men, including the son of Raichur Lok Sabha member Sanna Fakirappa, were arrested by the Cowl Bazaar police on Wednesday, for allegedly assaulting a girl, her classmate and family members.

According to the complaint lodged by the girl, a gang of more than 50 men, including Muttu, the son of the MP, barged into her house and assaulted her and family members.

In her complaint, she stated that the gang stripped her classmate before thrashing him. They also accused her family members of running a brothel at a posh residential area.

The complainant further stated that Suresh, who works as a domestic help at Sanna Fakirappa’s residence, had misbehaved with her mother. A complaint was lodged against Suresh on December 12.

‘Revenge ’

In order to exact a revenge, the gang, allegedly led by Muttu, assaulted her family members. The complainant and her mother have been admitted to Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences after they suffered injuries in the alleged assault.

Police have taken Muttu  and four others into custody. Superintendent of Police Dr Chetan Singh Rathore said others involved in the incident will soon be arrested. Stringent action will be taken against those involved in moral policing, he added.
