The ruling party members staged a dharna in the well of the House in Legislative Council on Monday demanding an impartial probe into the audiogate episode.

As soon as the House met, a few ruling party members said Yeddyurappa should resign for trying to “bribe” Legislator Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar.

Kumaraswamy, last week, released an audio clip in which Yeddyurappa was in a purported conversation to lure a JD(S) MLA in his alleged attempt to topple the JD(S)- Congress government. The ruling party members also demanded a discussion on the issue.

The BJP members also rose to their feet to counter the ruling party members. “Your government is in power and can order any probe,” Leader of the Opposition Kota Srinivas Poojary said.

A heated exchange of words was witnessed between the ruling party members and the Opposition members with the former trooping into the well of the House.

Chairman Prathapchandra Shetty had to adjourn the House thrice before order could be restored. Shetty said he will give his ruling whether a discussion can be allowed on the issue on Tuesday.
