<p>The State government has appointed a search committee to scrutinise the applications received and send a shortlist of names to the Governor to appoint one of them as the next vice-chancellor of Karnataka University, Dharwad (KUD) here.<br /><br /></p>.<p>As per the fresh guidelines issued by the UGC, the search committee should have four members: a UGC nominee, a government nominee, a Syndicate nominee and a Governor’s nominee.<br /><br />The nominees include Dr Kasturirangan appointed by the State government as the head of the committee, former vice-chancellor of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, J H Kulkarni as the Syndicate nominee, Prof Sateesh Jigjinni of BLDE, Vijayapura, as the Governor’s nominee and Prof Vikram Jamdar of the Nagpur Technological University as the UGC nominee.<br /><br />As many as 90 candidates have applied for the post of KUD vice-chancellor. A majority of them are working as senior professors in other universities.</p>
