Shiroor Mutt seer Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swami has withdrawn from the election fray on the ground that he does not want to contest against the party led by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
He told DH that BJP top brass contacted him requesting him not to contest the polls as the party’s votes would be divided. He said he was very much impressed by the initiatives taken by the Prime Minister to develop the country. “In order to strengthen the BJP, I have decided to withdraw the nomination” he added.
