Stray dogs maul deer to death in Mysore

Last Updated 31 August 2012, 18:08 IST

A pack of stray dogs reportedly killed a male deer near Chamundi Hill forest area on Friday.

An eyewitness said the stray dogs were chasing the deer near a resort on Bhakshi Chamappaji Road around 6 am. The deer was injured in the mouth and was running for life. The passersby shooed the dogs away, but the deer succumbed to injuries.

A forest officer said the animal seemed to be in captivity and, probably, belonged to one of the religious institutions in the city.

Notices would be served on the institutions to take measures to prevent the animals in their captivity from straying out, said the officer.
