Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday admitted that there was dissent in the party with regard to the allotment of ministerial berths. “The high command would quell the dissent,” he said.

Kharge told reporters here that many had worked for the Congress and had been elected to Assembly three to four times. It is natural for them to aspire to become ministers. AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka is setting right the situation. “Hence, no one should aggravate the dissent in the party,” he said, reports DHNS from Kalaburagi.

Kharge, MP from Gulbarga, confirmed that both Congress and JD(S) would face the Lok Sabha election together. A discussion in this regard has already been held. The BJP and RSS are diving the society.

Hence, to uphold secularism and democracy and to protect Constitution, the Congress and JD(S) will face the election togather, he said replying to a question.

Dismissing as rumour the reports of factional feud between former chief minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Parameshwara as a rumour, Kharge said both of them were on the same page.

The coalition government has been formed to unite secular forces. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will be the chief minister for the next five years. “We will keep our opinions aside and follow the high command’s line in this regard,” he added.
