At least four people, including Suttur mutt seer and MLC Marithibbegowda, have been injured in a blast from hydrogen balloons.

The blast occurred on Tuesday during the inaugural ceremony of a wrestling tournament, organised as part of the annual six-day Jathra Mahothsava, popularly known as Suttur Jathre or Suttur Fair, on the banks of the Kapila River in Nanjangud taluk. It's about 28 km from Mysuru.

The balloons were held by the organisers to decorate the venue for the wrestling bouts. They burst as the flames from the sports torch touched them accidentally.

The injured were the Suttur seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami, MLC Marithibbegowda, Kalmalli Shivakumar and Hosakote Devanna.

They were rushed for treatment at the Primary Healthcare Centre in Suttur.
