Untimely rain damages crops

The untimely rain that lashed Ajjampura on Sunday night has damaged jowar and chickpea crops.

The gusty wind has uprooted several coconut trees and banana plants. The hailstorm has also damaged the onion crops.

The untimely rain has also posed a hurdle to chickpea suggi celebrations. The chickpea that were plucked have been partially washed away in the rain.

The jowar crops too have been damaged. Several coconut trees have been uprooted at Erehosooru, Hebooru, Abbinaholalu, M Hosahalli villages.

Over 10 electricity poles have also been damaged.

All the banana plants cultivated on a two and a half acre land belonging to Shivakumar at Hebbooru have been damaged.

Rajya Raitha Sangha vice president Mahesh said, "The untimely rain has damaged the crops. The officials should visit the spot, assess the damage and submit a report to the state government. The government should compensate the loss."
