A youth drowned in a pond near Mahatma Gandhi hydro power plant at Kargal in Sagar taluk on Tuesday, when he lost balance while taking a selfie on his cellphone.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Ganesh Bandasiddannavar (21), a daily wage worker from Haveri district. He had gone to the pond to take a bath along with his friends, after the completion of the bridge work nearby. The Jog police registered a case.
