The city police arrested three individuals for assaulting a man running a women's paying guest facility (PG) in Marathahalli. The three men attacked the owner of the PG as the latter objected to the trio's nuisance in front of the hostel on New Year's night.

Police picked up Raman Reddy, Prasad and Janardhan Reddy, all residents of Manjunath Layout in Munekolala in connection with the case.

Accused Raman Reddy, who is a tenant living next street, along with Prasad and Janardhan were creating a ruckus in front of the Siri Ladies PG on New Year’s night around 12.30 am, Kiran Kumar (24), the owner of the women's paying guest facility said in his complaint to the Marathahalli police.

“Raman Reddy came out shirtless and dhothi-clad, shouting and screaming in front of the women’s PG to which I raised objection. I told them it was a women’s PG and asked them to go away,” said Kiran.

An irked Raman and his friends, Prasad and Janardhan, started manhandling Kiran. The trio strangled and slapped Kiran. Prasad took a plastic chair and thrashed Kiran's head, leaving him with injuries. The assailants fled soon after.

Kiran then approached the Marathahalli police and filed a complaint. The three were arrested in their drunken stupor thereafter, and taken to the station.

The police registered a case under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (assault), 324 (assault with dangerous weapons) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). Further investigations are on.
