<p>Doom of the ‘sinking’ Joshimath is being pinned on its development. As the hill town continues to descend, a NTPC tunnel stands in the dock. </p>.<p>From activists to politicos to locals, all have declared the Tapovan Vishnugad Hydroelectric Project guilty. </p>.<p>Locals had previously protested against National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) seeking their withdrawal from the state. The construction work of the tunnel was stopped with immediate effect, till further orders. </p>.<p>Many, however, blamed the prevailing situation on constructing roads and tunnels for a nearby hydroelectric project.</p>
