The seven farmers from Kairoja village were killed in remote Manang district in June 2009 while they were going to collect Yarcha-Gumba, a rare mountainous herb which is used to treat sexual dysfunction in men.

The Manang District Court slapped 20 years imprisonment to six of the accused, who were directly involved in the murder case, while 13 got two years imprisonment, Sambhu Prasad Baral, an official of the court, told reporters.

Yarcha-Gumba collection is the main source of income for the villagers of the remote mountain district, fetching some Nepali Rs 50,000 for every kilogram sold in Kathmandu.
