China-Tajikistan Quake Highlights: Tremors strongly felt in Xinjiang region
A 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit the China-Tajikistan border region early on Thursday. It was 67 kilometers (41 miles) west of Murghob, the district capital with a population of a few thousand people high in the Pamir Mountains. The quake was strongly felt across the border in some areas of Kashgar prefecture and Kizilsu Kyrgyz autonomous prefecture in Xinjiang, but no casualties or damages were reported.

The quake struck around 5:37 am local time (0037 GMT) at a depth of about 20.5 kilometres (12.7 miles).
