Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi clarified that the reported wreckage, of a boat, found off Ratnagiri coast of Maharashtra, was not the wreckage of missing Suvarna Tribhuja boat, but it was a 22 meters long seabed stone.
Speaking to reporters, he said INS Nireekshak which was deputed to conduct the investigation informed that the wreckage was a stone and not a boat.
Suvarna Tribhuja boat was 23 meters long. The found object was a rock usually found at the seabed. Using sonar technology the ship from the Indian Navy figured out the object was a rock. The search for the missing boat is still on. Coastal Security Police SP N T Pramod Rao is part of the investigating team, he added.
Police of Uttara Kannada district is also checking whether the crates found in the sea a few days ago were that of Suvarna Thribhuja boat.
