Modi dares Cong to appoint non-Gandhi party president

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dared the Congress to appoint a non-Gandhi family member as party president for five years.

“Did the Britishers write off ‘Hindustan’ to one family. Earlier, they (Cong) were 440, now they are only 40. It appears Englishmen handed over the baton for the hereditary rule but today one ‘Chaiwala’ is sitting on the chair,” said Modi. He was on a visit to Ambikapur to address a public rally in Surguja division of Chhattisgarh.

Attacking the Congress election manifesto, he said they have nothing to lose as they will not come to power.
Recalling his visit to Ambikapur during the last Lok Sabha election, he said a replica of Red Fort was made here, which was a point of discussion. It is this reason that is giving sleepless nights to the Congress as it is wondering how can the people of a backward region replicate the Red Fort. The people of the region have got a chance to give the Congress a befitting reply, he said.

Development mantra

Commenting on heavy polling in Bastar, the Prime Minister said despite Maoists terrorising people at gunpoint, the tribals of the region participated in this biggest festival of democracy. Maoists even threatened to cut the fingers of those who vote, but the tribals defied the threat.
Speaking of development of the region, Modi said if villages are not connected by road, then development will remain a mirage. The BJP does not differentiate among regions and believes in development for all and progress of all. “It is the Congress which discriminates as mine and yours. Even those who do not cast their vote for our party belong to us," signed off Modi.
