Facebook brings BARS app with beats effect for budding Rappers

US-based social media company Facebook has just announced another fun app BARS.

The BARS app is developed by Facebook's R&D division NPE (New Product Experimentation) Team. It was established in 2019 and has been tasked to create consumer-oriented applications and the Bars app is their latest creation.

As the headline says, the BARS app offers rap beats in the background for the users to groove on the latest rap music or create their own rendition.

"Rap has a rich and varied history that has influenced culture for over 40 years. I’m inspired by the art form and the culture, and while I work at Facebook, I’m also a hip-hop songwriter and ghostwriter under the alias “D-Lucks.” I know access to high-priced recording studios and production equipment can be limited for aspiring rappers. On top of that, the global pandemic shut down live performances where we often create and share our work. So, along with a group of aspiring rappers, we’ve been building BARS: a place for aspiring rappers to create and share their art," said DJ Iyer aka D-Lucks, BARS Community Manager.

Besides the beat, the BARS app offers a challenge feature, where one can ask a fellow user to compete with the auto-generated cues. It can also record the duel into 60 seconds multimedia content and can be saved in the camera roll storage. It can then shared on social media platforms.

For now, the 'BARS - Rapper's Deligh‪t‬' app is available on Apple App Store in the US region only. Probably after user-feedback and based on consumer response in terms of downloads, it is expected to be released in global markets in the coming months.

Previously, Facebook's NPE Team had developed Collab, a TikTok-like application. With the apps, users can create their own arrangement by adding in their own recording or by swiping and discovering an arrangement to complete the composition.
