2 bikers to cover 13,560 km in 40 days

Two friends from Kaup—Sachin Shetty and Abhishek Shetty— have set out on a long bike-ride expecting to cover a distance of 13,560 km in 40 days under the name "Go Himalayas."

The duo started their journey from Hosamarigudi in Kaup on Friday, July 27 and will cover 11 states across the country and also cross Nepal and Bhutan in their journey.

They wish to study lifestyle, culture and food habits of the places covered during their travel. From Karnataka, they will travel across Satara (Maharashtra), Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Jhansi and Lucknow (Uttara Pradesh), Sonauli (Nepal), Kathmandu (Nepal), Thimphu (Bhutan), Guwahati (Assam), Kohima (Nagaland), Imphal (Manipur), Shillong (Meghalaya), Siliguri and Kolkatta (West Bengal), Puri (Orissa), Vishakhapattanam and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), return to Karnataka via Bengaluru-Mangaluru then back to Kaup.

Sachin Shetty is a good photographer and an active member of South Kanara Photographers Association, Kaup. He has also photographed for Kannada and Tulu movies. He is an amateur bike rider as well. Sachin will travel in Royal Enfield Himayalan while Abhishek in Royal Enfield Classic 350.

Earlier, Sachin had travelled 11,000 km on his bike, under 'Lights, Camera, Ladakh Tour," to shoot a documentary on lifestyle and food habits of different states in the country.

The duo said that they are travelling to study the lifestyle, culture, tradition and food habits in these three countries. "The expenditure for the trip would come around Rs 2.5 lakh and a few sponsors have come forward to support us. The entire visit will be documented and will be uploaded to our Youtube channel."

MLA Lalaji Mendon wishing them good luck while flagging off the journey said, "It is a pride that two youngsters from Kaup are going on a journey to study the culture of the land."
