Car-borne robbers strike near Delhi Police headquarters

Two persons who hail from Sikkim and came to Delhi to attend a seminar were robbed of valuables by car-borne criminals near police headquarters in the wee hours on Thursday, police said.

D Nepal, 40, with his uncle Madhusudan, 55, came to Delhi late on Wednesday night to attend a seminar on Thursday. They took an autorickshaw  from Anand Vihar railway station for Paharganj.

As they crossed Yamuna bridge and reached near Delhi Police headquarter in IP estate, they were stopped by a white Innova car carrying four persons. One pf them allegedly pulled out a knife and asked them to give their valuables.

When they resisted, the criminals allegedly threatened to stab them. The assailants took a briefcase, a bag carrying a laptop, two gold rings and Rs 13,000 in cash from them and fled from the scene, a police officer said.

The victims raised an alarm and called up police. A case of robbery has been registered under section 392 of IPC and an investigation was taken up, police said.

“It is possible that the victims were followed by the robbers from Anand Vihar railway station,” a senior police official said.
