<p>A 23-year-old Delhi University student bludgeoned his elder brother to death with dumbell after the two had a fight over the latter's girlfriend visiting their rented accommodation in North Delhi's Burari area in the early hours of Sunday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased identified as Hitesh Kumar Verma, 27, had been living with his brother Himanshu, 23, in Delhi for the past two years. Police said Hitesh had been working as an assistant professor in Sanskrit at a Delhi University college for the past two years.<br /><br />When the police team reached at the house after receiving a PCR call around 3 am, Himanshu allegedly cooked up a story that two men had barged inside their house and murdered his brother. They said that he had hidden the weapon of offence under his bed, which was later seized by them.<br /><br />The police said Hitesh had asked his younger brother, a post graduate student at the Delhi University, to leave the house as he had invited his girlfriend over, which was followed by the duo’s fight and the latter killing his brother.<br /><br />According to a police official, once Hitesh got a job here, he called his brother to the city so that he can pursue his post graduation from the Delhi University. The police said that the duo had been living away from their family in Jhansi and went to visit them every two months.<br /><br />Himanshu told the police that two months after he shifted to Delhi, Hitesh met a girl here, after which they started meeting each other quite often. Hitesh at first hid his friendship with the girl from his younger brother, as he feared that his brother might share the same with their parents in Jhansi.<br /><br />However, once Himanshu became suspicious, he started asking his brother about the girl, who in turn shared that Hitesh was dating the girl for some time and asked him to cooperate.</p>
