<p>Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal moved to woo autorickshaw drivers at a rally in Ramlila Ground on Thursday, as prospects of fresh Assembly election seem real after no party has been able to form a government in Delhi.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Alleging police’s high-handedness and corruption in the President’s Rule, Kejriwal said, “Auto drivers end up paying Rs 5,000-10,000 as bribe every month.”<br /><br />“I had asked auto drivers to swear by their children and shun dishonesty. They even did!” he added, while pointing out that during the 49-day rule of AAP, police harassment and corruption was curbed successfully.<br /><br />The rally saw participation of top party functionaries who expressed their confidence in coming back to power if fresh elections are held. <br /><br />After major political drubbing in the parliamentary election, AAP saw Thursday’s rally as a precursor of gauging the popularity it enjoys.<br /><br />The AAP chief said his party had turned over one lakh autorickshaw drivers into a strong voter base which every party is trying to win over. <br /><br />The party also announced a helpline number for autorickshaw drivers and promised its full support in redressing their grievances. <br /><br />Kejriwal also used the platform for lashing out at the BJP and Congress for “not having any intention” to resolve people’s problems in the city.<br /><br />On Sunday, his party is slated to hold another rally at Jantar Mantar to protest against President’s Rule in the city and non-dissolution of the Legislative Assembly.<br />Accusing police of harassing autorickshaw drivers, he said, “We will meet the Delhi Police Commissioner and Lt Governor and put forth a few issues. We will demand that any auto driver who is going for lunch or is driving back home should not be penalised.”</p>
