Two men were injured when the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit from behind by a speeding DTC bus in Badarpur area of south-east Delhi, police said on Monday.

Pintu, 23, of Devli village in Khanpur and Sonu were travelling towards Faridabad district in Haryana when the accident took place at around 11:20 pm on Saturday.

“Pintu and Sonu were coming from Khanpur and were passing through Jaitpur when the low-floor AC bus plying on route number 405 – Kashmere Gate ISBT to Sarita Vihar – hit them,” a police official said. Sonu and Pintu were thrown off the vehicle.

The incident had prompted locals to pelt stones on the DTC bus creating chaos at the site of the accident. Police rushed to the spot and found the motorcycle stuck under the bus and the duo seriously injured. They were immediately taken to the AIIMS trauma centre.

“Both of them have suffered leg injuries and Pintu also has a fracture. The injuries, however, are not serious,” the official added.

Bus driver Girinder Singh, 50, was arrested. The accident cell of south-east Delhi district is probing the matter.
