<p class="title">The Union government has no plans to reduce the probation period of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from two years to one year, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said the length of the probation was counted as a part of the service and the period was counted from the date of joining the service.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"No Madam (Speaker). There is no proposal to reduce the period of probation from two years to one year," Rijiju said, while replying to a written question.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Union minister said IPS probationers were imparted training in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA), Hyderabad. </p>
