<p>Forty-one children, who were being trafficked to Delhi, were rescued from Seemanchal Express at Anand Vihar railway station on Thursday morning and 21 traffickers have been arrested. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The Child Welfare Committee, north-east district has ordered to lodge FIR and have booked the traffickers under sections 370 (buying or disposing of any person as slave) and 372 (selling minor for purposes of prostitution, etc) of the Indian Penal Code.<br /><br />The rescue operation began at midnight and went on till 4 am. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), NGO conducted the operation. <br /><br />The children were being trafficked from Nepal and Bihar and are in the age group of eight to 14 years. <br /><br />“These children were being trafficked to Delhi, Haryana and Jammu Kashmir, to be hired in construction, zari embroidery and glass bangle industries,” said a police officer.<br /><br />Six children were being trafficked from Nepal via Bihar. These children come from financially weaker backgrounds and were being trafficked on the pretext of better employment opportunities and high regular wages to Delhi's poultry farms and construction sites of the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. <br /><br />The traffickers were identified as local middlemen who bluffed the parents by promising them to provide education to their children. They had bought the children for Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000. <br /><br />“The tip off came on July 17 when an activist at Katihar in Bihar saw a group of children being trafficked in Seemanchal Express train and tried to intervene at the station but got overpowered by the traffickers,” said Rakesh Senger, member BBA. <br /><br />The activist managed to rescue only six children along with the support of the local railway police officials. The train was checked before reaching Delhi with the help of the police and activists in Ghaziabad before it reached the Capital.</p>
