<p>A 20-year-old youth was arrested for trying to kidnap and molest a class 8 student at Shahdara in north-east Delhi, police said on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The 15-year-old victim, a Shahdara-resident, told police that Vishu, who lives nearby, was stalking her for the last few months. She had snubbed his advances many times. <br /><br />Waylaid <br /><br />The victim said on Monday evening when she was returning home from a private tuition class, Vishu blocked her way and pleaded for friendship. <br /><br />But when she ignored him, he threw a piece of cloth on her face, dragged her towards his car and abducted her. <br /><br />The girl resisted and managed to come out of the moving car near Shahdara Metro station and ran for her house. <br /><br />The accused molested the girl and beat her up during the kidnapping bid, police said.<br />After reaching home, she told her parents about the incident, who then approached police. <br /><br />On the victim’s statement, police have registered a case with Shahdara police station under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (molestation), 363 (kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.<br /><br />A senior police officer said the accused was arrested from his house and later produced before the court. He has been sent to judicial custody.<br /></p>
