<p>Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has banned the movement of heavy vehicles, including trucks, containers, ship cargo, long chasis heavy vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles on Charmadi Ghat Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Only cars, jeep, two-wheelers, Rajahamsa buses and other passenger buses, barring premiere buses, can ply on the road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">With the closure of Shiradi Ghat and Sampaje Ghat for vehicles, Charmadi Ghat is the only available road to reach Bengaluru and other hinterland areas from Dakshina Kannada.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As the pressure is high on Charmadi Ghat, the movement of heavy vehicles may cause traffic congestion on the stretch. In fact, a truck had broken down on the 10th curve of Charmadi Ghat on Friday evening, resulting in a traffic jam on the stretch.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The continuous rain in the region is also causing landslides on a few locations which are immediately cleared by the officials, the DC said.</p>
