Bengaluru: SOUKYA International forays into affordable healthcare segment

Bengaluru: SOUKYA International Holistic Health Centre, globally acclaimed for its premium holistic therapies, is foraying into the affordable healthcare segment with its first 100-bed integrated AYUSH hospital in Bengaluru at an investment of Rs 125 crore.

It also plans to achieve a 1,000-bed hospital network in the next five years. The expansion includes opening AYUSH hospitals in Chennai, Hyderabad and other southern cities.

The investment includes Rs 50 crore for land acquisition and Rs 75 crore towards construction and development of the unit. The upcoming facility, spread over 6 acres, combines Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Siddha, Unani, and Yoga. This facility is aimed at making holistic, integrative care accessible to a wider community, Dr Isaac Mathai, Founder of SOUKYA told DH.

"Our aim is to expand our network into various cities in south India and reach a size of 1,000 beds in five years. We will either set up hospitals on our own or through a management contract with investors, real estate firms,".

He said there is a need for having at least one lakh hospital beds for AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha, and Homeopathy) in the country in the next ten years and the company plans to tap this market with its network of hospitals.

Construction of the new hospital in Hoskote near Bengaluru is expected to begin within the next 6-9 months and will be executed in two phases. Phase-I will include 50 beds and a set of core specialisations, while Phase-II will expand the facility’s capacity and service portfolio. The hospital is expected to be fully functional by the end of FY 27, Dr Mathai said.

It will also offer comprehensive insurance coverage across all treatments, ensuring complete and inclusive care.

The 100-bed hospital in Bengaluru will provide advanced integrative care across multiple disciplines, including cancer rehabilitation, respiratory disorders, lifestyle and metabolic conditions, pediatric developmental disorders, reproductive health, neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, and addictive behaviours. Each treatment pathway will combine modern medical expertise with traditional systems, offering a comprehensive, patient-centric approach to healing, Dr Mathai said.

SOUKYA is also looking at expanding its network through both management and operational models. “There is a significant potential to open AYUSH hospitals across key cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and in Kerala, which are rapidly emerging as strong AYUSH markets. We plan to expand through both management and operational models, allowing flexibility in how we grow while ensuring consistency in care delivery,” he said.

There has already been encouraging interest from potential partners for collaborative models, and the company is currently evaluating options,” Dr Mathai said.
